
When people hear "autonomous delivery," they picture a robot or a drone. That's the visible part of the story. It's not the hard part.
The robot isn't the hard part. Everything built around it is.
Picture a robot showing up at its destination. Now picture nobody there to take the package. That's the actual problem autonomous delivery has to solve, and it has nothing to do with how good the robot is at navigating a hallway.
A single smart machine, no matter how capable, isn't a network. A network is the infrastructure that lets that machine hand off a package securely, without a person standing there to receive it, and lets the next robot, drone, or courier pick up right where the last one left off.
Most of what makes this work is invisible. It's software, not hardware. We built our own operating system to run it, called Arrive OS, written in Rust for the reliability a system like this actually needs. Our senior platform engineer, DJ Davison, led the build.

That decision, building our own instead of adapting someone else's, is why the network can scale across different robot makers, different drone makers, and different environments without breaking.
At Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana, the deployment is growing. What started as a single site is expanding to include the Parkway outpatient facility.

An expansion isn't a press release moment. It's a sign that the infrastructure held up well enough under real use that the customer wanted more of it.
None of this shows up in a demo video. Nobody films the software running quietly in the background making sure a handoff actually completes. But that's the part that decides whether autonomous delivery works at scale or just works once, on camera.
The industry is going to keep talking about robots and drones, because they're the part people can see. We're going to keep building the part that makes them actually useful together, at scale, without a person babysitting every handoff.
That's the more than the robot with autonomous delivery.
